Terms of Service
Effective date: 30 June 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Screencap.site (the “Service”), a website screenshot and thumbnail API operated by Website Holding (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or calling the API, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind it.
1. The Service
Screencap.site renders a screenshot or thumbnail of a publicly reachable URL you submit and returns it to you via the API. We may update, improve or change features over time.
2. Accounts & API keys
You are responsible for your account, for keeping your API keys secret, and for all activity under your keys. If a key is exposed, revoke it from your dashboard and create a new one. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. You must provide accurate account information and be at least 16 years old.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- capture URLs you are not authorised to access, or to evade authentication or paywalls;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy or other rights of any party;
- capture or distribute illegal content, malware, or content depicting the abuse or exploitation of others;
- attempt to reach private, internal or loopback addresses (such requests are blocked), or to probe, scan or attack any network;
- exceed, circumvent or share around your plan's rate and volume limits, or place an unreasonable load on the Service;
- resell or white-label the raw API as a competing screenshot API without our agreement.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations, with or without notice where necessary to protect the Service or others.
4. Rate limits & fair use
Each plan includes a monthly capture allowance and reasonable rate limits, described on our pricing section and documentation. We may apply technical limits to protect availability for all users.
5. Ownership of screenshots & intellectual property
As between you and us, you own the screenshots generated from URLs you are entitled to capture, and you are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to capture and use the underlying content. The captured pages and their content remain the property of their respective owners. We retain all rights in the Service itself — our software, API, branding and documentation — and grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the API in accordance with these Terms.
6. Billing & subscriptions
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through Website Holding, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase; your statement will reference Website Holding. Fees are stated exclusive of taxes, which we add where required. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time by contacting us, and access continues until the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. We may change pricing on reasonable notice, effective at your next renewal.
7. Third-party content
The Service renders third-party web pages that we do not control. We are not responsible for the content of captured pages, and capturing a page does not imply any endorsement.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that every capture will succeed. Paid plans may include a separate, contractual SLA.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues or data. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or to comply with the law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, billing for amounts owed) will survive.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, where Website Holding is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of the Netherlands will have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes we will update the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
